Obi-Wan Kenobi: Will “Star Wars” villain Darth Maul return in the Disney+ series?

Of course, many fans are hoping that Obi-Wan’s nemesis Darth Maul (Ray Park) will return as well, but officials have already dashed that hope. So Maul was actually planned as the main antagonist, but should now no longer have a place in the series. But we can’t really believe that.

In “Obi-Wan Kenobi” Obi-Wan (McGregor) reflects on his past, which will of course also be about the time of the clone wars, which was mainly dealt with in the animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”.

This is exactly where the dog is buried: The clone wars have drawn Obi-Wan very much, but Disney + will not require that all viewers of “Obi-Wan Kenobi” have also seen “The Clone Wars”. Thus, we will certainly expect some flashbacks to the time when scenes from “The Clone Wars” were adapted as live-action versions.

Maul, in particular, plays an important role in Obi-Wan’s suffering during the Clone Wars, having murdered Obi-Wan’s lover, Satine Kryze. The pain Obi-Wan experiences as a result is characteristic of his entire handling of Anakin’s relationship, for Obi-Wan knew of Anakin’s marriage and actively chose not to talk about it.

So, Maul will definitely hover like a heavy shadow over Obi-Wan during this dark time in exile. Whether or not Maul makes an appearance, his presence will be felt throughout the Disney+ series, as Obi-Wan wouldn’t be the man he is if it weren’t for Maul.

In the Star Wars chronology, Obi-Wan Kenobi is relatively parallel to Solo: A Star Wars Story, which stars Maul as the leader of the Crimson Dawn cartel. So Maul could also appear apart from a flashback.

So should Obi-Wan stumble into a member of the crime syndicate, Maul could make a cameo as a supporting actor and mastermind behind the scenes. But the real fight between the two only occurs in “Star Wars Rebels”, which takes place about five years after “Obi-Wan Kenobi”.
