Sarah El Haïry, Secretary of State for Youth and Universal National Service, was the guest of Europe 1 this Friday morning. Asked about the arrival of the Ocean Viking, the boat of the NGO SOS Mediterranée, the Secretary of State pointed out the irresponsibility of Italy, by not respecting international law.

After several days at sea, the Ocean Viking will arrive this Friday in the port of Toulon, in the Var. The boat of the NGO SOS Méditerranée, where 230 migrants rescued in recent days are on board, could not find a base, despite incessant requests from Italy and France.

In recent days, strong tensions have arisen between Rome and Paris on the subject. “Who broke the pact? Who broke his word? It’s the Italians”, denounces the Secretary of State at the microphone of Europe 1, underlining the inconsistencies of Rome in recent hours. “The problem is not between France and Italy today. The problem is between Europe and Italy. It is the latter which has not respected the European solidarity pact.
