“By bringing his solid expertise in international law, Richard will be in charge of the legal affairs of the OCIM group. His approach centered on the management of all risks, is totally in line with our desire for growth and our investment philosophy”, explains Laurent Mathiot, president of the OCIM group.
Richard is an excellent lawyer in international business law, who has more particularly developed a solid practice of mergers and acquisitions law, in the sector of transport and energy infrastructures, and of mining law. His transversal knowledge of deal structuring, acquired after more than 20 years of experience, makes him a wise advisor.
Admitted to the Paris Bar in 2000, Richard began his career as a lawyer in Paris. From 2002 to 2015, Richard worked as Legal Director (Infrastructure, Transport and Logistics) within the Bolloré group, then in charge of more than thirty projects for which he negotiated public-private partnerships with governments and private companies. and financial institutions in more than 47 countries. In 2015, Richard joined King & Wood Mallesons in Paris as a partner. In 2016, Richard joined forces with Baker & McKenzie – Paris, where, as head of the “Infrastructure & Project Finance” department, he supports companies in the financial structuring of their investments in developing countries. In particular, he participated in the negotiations which saw the successful construction and operation in the Republic of Guinea of the Souapiti and Kaleta hydroelectric power stations, which ensure the supply of energy throughout the country.
Richard is a member of the editorial board of the journal of business law in Africa which promotes research in business law on the African continent. From 2015, he was distinguished several times in the annual ranking of the best lawyers by the French-speaking magazine “Jeune Afrique”; and in 2021, he was distinguished by Acritas (Thomson Reuters) in its Stellar Lawyers category.
