iPad owners are still waiting for iPadOS 16, but a well-known Apple expert is now certain when the new software will be released: on Monday, October 24, 2022, the time has come. But that’s not the only thing Apple could unveil that day.

Apple

iOS and iPadOS usually appear at the same time, after all, iPadOS is based on iOS and both systems share many functions. However, iOS 16 has been available for a few weeks, while iPadOS 16 is still a long time coming. According to Apple at the time, the tablet operating system was not to be released until October. However, the US group did not give an exact date. But Mark Gurman does that now.

iPadOS 16.1 to be released on October 24 – along with new iPads?

The well-known Apple expert has October 24th as the release date. Then iPadOS 16.1 should start directly, probably in tandem with iOS 16.1. However, Apple users should not be fooled by the small jump in version: 16.1 brings a number of important innovations, including support for the smart home standard Matter or the joint adjustment of the lock screen and home screen.

But not only iPadOS 16.1 and iOS 16.1 could celebrate their debut on October 24th. Although Apple is unlikely to hold a new event this year, new iPads are still expected to be unveiled – likely via press release. Among other things, the iPad Pro 2022 and the 10th generation iPad are rumored to be on the agenda. It would be obvious when Apple uses the launch day of iPadOS 16.1 to also present new iPads. After all, the Californian manufacturer does this regularly. In autumn, for example, new iPhones always come on the market with new iOS versions.

iPadOS 16 brings many new features:

Apple is backing down on Stage Manager

The biggest innovation of iPadOS 16 is Stage Manager. Apple has completely revised multitasking and brought it closer to classic window management à la macOS or Windows. Initially, Stage Manager should only be reserved for the iPad Pro models with the M1 chip and the new iPad Air. After severe criticism, Apple has at least partially backed down.
