After almost 37 years, the soap “Neighbours” is about to end. Stars like Kylie Minogue became famous through the format.

The Australian soap “Neighbors” is one of the longest-running series in the world. However, after around 37 years and almost 9,000 episodes, the format will be discontinued in the summer. The makers announced this on the show’s Instagram profile, among other things.

Production will continue until June, it says. Because the broadcasting partner in Great Britain had jumped off and sufficient financial means could not be raised elsewhere, “we simply have no other option than to let the show rest”. You know that this news is not only a huge disappointment for the team, but also for the spectators.

Numerous stars were there

“Neighbors” was considered a springboard for numerous celebrities. With the soap, for example, the singer and actress Kylie Minogue (53) made her breakthrough in the 1980s. Among others Russell Crowe (57), Margot Robbie (31), Guy Pearce (54), Liam Hemsworth (32) and Natalie Imbruglia (47) are just a few other stars who have already appeared in “Neighbours” and who are today the whole world knows.

Minogue pressed after the news broke express their gratitude on Twitter: “I will forever be grateful for the experiences and friends I made on Neighbors.” She and her colleagues had no idea how big the format would become and how passionate the viewers would be.
