Off-piste – avalanche triggered: skier was lucky in misfortune

A German skier (38) triggered an avalanche on Wednesday afternoon in the ski area of ​​Fiss off-piste. The man was carried away, but was lucky in the misfortune.

At around 1 p.m., the 38-year-old German left the secured slope below the “Zwölferbahn” mountain station in the Fiss ski area. But he did not drive more than ten meters off the piste in deep snow. It happened: the skier released a 40-meter-wide slab of snow in the 35 to 38 degree steep terrain. The 38-year-old was carried away, but only buried knee-deep with one leg. Other skiers came to the man’s aid. He was unharmed in the incident.
