Offices flooded – water damage in Mirabell Palace

Was it on purpose or did someone just forget to turn off the tap? In Mirabell Palace, the seat of the Salzburg magistrate and part of the world cultural heritage, official rooms were under water. Karl Schupfer, head of the city service, confirms the water damage when asked by “Krone”: “Obviously the water tap was turned on over the weekend.”

When the officials entered their workplace on Monday, the whole water misery was noticeable: “In a room in the passport office, next to the city service, the water was dripping from the ceiling. The walls were also affected.” The professional fire brigade had to come to pump out, reports Schupfer: “It was massive.” How it happened is not yet clear. Just like the amount of property damage – but this should be in the five-digit range. “At the moment it has no direct impact on official business. Service operations are not affected,” emphasizes Schupfer.
