official images of Henry Cavill’s replacement are divisive

It was time. Netflix has finally given us a first official look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia in season 4 of The Witcher.

October 2022, Henry Cavill announced his departure from Netflix’s The Witcher series to don the Superman cape. His plans ultimately did not come to fruition, with the British actor being ousted from the new DCU in favor of someone younger. Despite fans’ pleas and petitions with hundreds of thousands of signatures, nothing happened. Netflix has stuck to its position and it is Liam Hemsworth who will take over the role of Geralt until the end of The Witcher series. After a few stolen photos, the streaming giant finally decides to reveal a first official preview.

The pressure is enormous, but the teams are confident. Since the announcement of Henry Cavill’s replacement, his former comrades have tried to reassure the most worried spectators. Liam Hemsworth has given himself body and soul to prepare to take on the mantle of the White Wolf. The little brother of Thor from the MCU has undergone intensive physical training in recent months and has studied all the lore of The Witcher. However, serious things began this month with the start of filming for season 4. A few stolen photos provided a glimpse of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt, but we finally have the right to the first official images. And no, it will probably not be the catastrophe predicted by all the deepfakes and montages that have been circulating.

Lauren S. Hissrich, producer of The Witcher series, tells EW that the teams have been working for more than a year on the look of this new Geralt of Rivia. “ The cast and crew were struck by the passion, energy and embodiment Liam has brought to the character since day one – unkempt beard, iconic scar and all! We’re having a lot of fun filming season 4 and we can’t wait “, she explained.

Liam Hemsworth will therefore make his debut with season 4 of The Witcher, expected sometime in 2025. He will have two seasons to prove himself, after which the series will officially be over. One thing is certain, the end of the Netflix adaptation will not fail to divide. The reactions are clearly divided, some of the fans being pleasantly surprised, the other continuing to rail about the departure of Henry Cavill.
