Official warning – Foehn storm with hurricane gusts of up to 200 km/h expected

The end of the week in Salzburg will be stormy. A southern foehn with hurricane gusts of up to 200 km/h is expected to sweep over the mountain peaks as well as the valleys and the state capital. The country issued an official warning.

The foehn storm front will hit Salzburg especially on Friday; wind peaks of 80 to 110 km/h are expected in valley areas and even around 200 km/h in the mountains. From the current point of view, the area between Krimml and Obertauern will be particularly affected; the tails of the storm will also be felt in the city of Salzburg and in Flachgau, with wind peaks of between 60 and 80 km/h.
