London (awp/afp) – Oil accelerated its plunge on Tuesday, with Brent in the North Sea falling almost 10% and its American counterpart, WTI, slipping below the symbolic bar of 100 dollars a barrel for the first time since almost two months.
Carried away by fears of recession, Brent, the benchmark for black gold in Europe, tumbled 9.63% to 102.57 dollars per barrel, while WTI fell 8.75% to 98.94 dollars per barrel towards 3:40 p.m. GMT (5:40 p.m. CET).
