Oily hair: the mistake to avoid so that it does not grease too quickly, according to a dermatologist: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Taking care of your oily hair is not always easy and can sometimes be alienating when the pace of washing gets carried away. You may have mastered the art of camouflage, whether with hairstyles, dry shampoo (not to be applied to the scalp), micellar water or even cornstarch, you would like to find a solution to slow down the phenomenon.

There are also a whole bunch of small actions that you can take in advance to prevent your hair from getting greasy too quickly. Oily hair is caused by excessive sebum production or product buildup on your scalp. It is therefore important to ensure that you use the right amount of shampoo (the equivalent of a 50 cent coin) but also to double shampoo to thoroughly remove all product residues present in your hair. If you know that your hair tends to get oily quickly, you can use your dry shampoo preventatively right after washing. Then, certain actions will have to be adapted. On Instagram, dermatologist @dermato_drey has dedicated a series of videos to the topic of oily hair.

Oily hair: no longer make this mistake when drying your hair

In a previous video, she warned against certain reflexes which will make the hair greasy more quickly: we avoid passing our brush over the scalp, which would spread the sebum, and we also avoid touching our hair. In a new publication, she mentions another mistake to stop making and this one happens when drying your hair after washing it.

Indeed, she recalls thatit is not necessary to apply “of hot hair dryer directly on the scalp. The reason ? “Heat promotes sebum secretion“, explains the doctor before adding that “the worst combo is the hot blowing brush that you apply from the roots“. Instead, the dermatologist recommends drying in the open air or with a hairdryer, but directing the latter only on the lengths and not on the scalp directly.
