Olympique Lyonnais is pleased to announce the signing of Argentinian international defender from Ajax, Nicolás Tagliafico, for 3 seasons, i.e. until June 30, 2025. The amount of the transfer is €4.2 million.
Aged 29, Nicolás Tagliafico has already had several experiences during his brilliant career. Trained in Argentina, he made his professional debut at CA Banfield during the 2010/2011 season. Loaned to Real Murcia for a season, he then joined CA Independiente in 2015. Author of 111 matches in 3 seasons with the Buenos Aires club, the left-back notably inherited the captain’s armband and won the Copa Sudamericana in 2017 against Flamengo du Lucas Paquetà.
Selected for the first time in the Argentina team during the summer of 2017, Nicolas Tagliafico joined Ajax Amsterdam in January 2018 and established himself as an indisputable starter. Winner of the Dutch Championship 3 times (2019, 2021, 2022), he also lifted the National Cup twice (2019, 2021) and reached the semi-finals of the Champion’s League in 2019. In total, the native Rafael Calzado played 169 games with Ajax and scored 16 goals.
Argentinian international from an early age, the player born in 1992 now has 40 caps with the Albiceleste. Significantly, on July 10, 2021, 28 years after Argentina’s last coronation, he won the Copa America against Brazil, taking part in 5 of his team’s 7 matches in the competition.
