(BFM Bourse) – In the midst of the sale process, OL Groupe has requested the suspension of its stock market action. The group owning, among other things, the Olympique Lyonnais football club must very soon go under the American flag.
OL Groupe, holding company of the Olympique Lyonnais football club, requested the suspension of its listing on Monday in the midst of discussions for the arrival of new investors in the capital. The operator of the Paris Stock Exchange Euronext suspended the course “at the request of the company, pending the publication of a press release”, according to a notice published Monday.
At the beginning of the month, the club’s historic president, Jean-Michel Aulas, announced his intention to have “concluded the subject” of the arrival of new investors by “June 23”. Nearly 40% of the group’s shares are for sale, resulting from the joint disengagement of the Pathé group, a historic partner of OL since 1999, and the Chinese investment fund IDG, which entered the round table in 2016.
John Textor would be the next owner of these shares according to RMC Sport, confirming information from Bloomberg. The American businessman who owns the football clubs of Botafogo and RWD Molenbeek is said to have set his sights on the club of Jean-Michel Aulas, seduced in particular by the club’s project in the world of basketball.
Jean-Michel Aulas, president since June 1987, remains today the majority shareholder via his family holding Holnest which holds 27.72% of the capital and has already announced its desire to remain in control of the club after the operation.
OL Groupe was floated on the stock exchange in 2007, at a price of 24 euros per share, but the stock has not been successful on the financial markets. Before the suspension, an OL Groupe share was worth 3.07 euros, however up more than 50% since January 1, boosted by the sales process.
