What happened to Olaf Scholz? The German Chancellor was spotted with a plaster on his chin on June 28.

Olaf Scholz (66, SPD) attended an appointment in Neuss on June 28 with a visible plaster on his face. The Chancellor visited the “International Police Cooperation Center” (IPCC), which was set up on the occasion of the home European Championship.

For this simple reason, Olaf Scholz wears the patch

What is supposed to have happened? Just a small mishap. According to media reports, Scholz cut himself while shaving. So the plaster on the Chancellor’s chin probably wasn’t discussed much on site.

Four of the venues for the 2024 European Football Championship, like Neuss, are in North Rhine-Westphalia. Before the Chancellor’s visit, it was announced that Scholz would be received at the IPCC by NRW’s Interior Minister Herbert Reul (71, CDU). A tour and a visit to the IPCC information center were planned.

“Successful European Championship games are not only down to the teams, but also to those who ensure security. The federal and state governments, police officers from all over Germany and from other countries work together at the International Police Cooperation Center in Neuss,” explained on the Chancellor’s account on the online platform X. There is talk of a “great achievement”.

The Chancellor and the eye patch

Last September, Scholz was also spotted wearing a plaster, and many citizens will probably remember the eyepatch-wearing chancellor from last year just as much. Scholz fell while jogging and had to wear the protection for a short time at appointments.

The Chancellor took the minor sports accident with humor. A photo with an eye patch said Scholz’s Instagram account: “Whoever is at fault… I’m curious about the memes. Thanks for the good wishes, it looks worse than it is!”
