After the Gulf countries and Africa, Olaf Scholz continues his tour of energy diversification by closing, this Tuesday in Brazil, a five-day journey in Latin America. The objective of the German Chancellor is to secure supplies for German industry. In Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and South Africa, there was talk of liquefied natural gas and green hydrogen. In Chile and Argentina, the first two stops of the Chancellor’s visit, Berlin mainly covets lithium fields to run its electric car factories. The Chancellor was accompanied by a dozen business leaders, including representatives of Aurubis, a European copper giant and the energy company Wintershall.
