The Ciclade platform, created at the request of the State, makes it possible to search for sums that have been forgotten or unclaimed, and which have fallen into “escheat” and are just waiting to be recovered.

The Ministry of the Economy is brandishing the carrot: it is a question of several billion euros, at least 6.4 billion at the end of 2021. This sum can be recovered by users thanks to Ciclade, a service of interest which allows the funds to be returned to a bank account, life insurance and any other inactive contract which have since been transferred to the Caisse des dépôts. Here’s how.

This money is yours “, declares the Caisse des dépôts

An account is considered inactive when it is noted that there have been no transactions on it for 12 consecutive months, or the absence of any manifestation of the account holder with the establishment during these 12 consecutive months. . The user must also not have carried out operations on another account opened in his name in the same bank, otherwise this period expires. We should add that the period is shortened to 5 months for savings books, securities accounts and term accounts.

Once the account has been considered inactive, banks, insurance companies, employee savings organizations and other financial institutions are required to close the account and then transfer the sums to the Caisse des dépôts.

The institution then has the task of keeping this money and allowing its beneficiaries to seek it, which also includes the heirs. This is why the Ciclade platform exists. ” This money is yours. It comes back to you “, also specifies the Caisse des dépôts on the assigned page.

Hundreds of millions of euros already returned

If you want to search for your inactive assets, go to Ciclade.fr. To make a request (the procedure is completely free), you must agree to provide some personal data, namely your surname, first name, date of birth and/or date of death of the account holder or the life insurance policyholder. wanted. It is possible to enter up to 10 bank references. And if a match is found, all you have to do is create your personal space to finalize the request by uploading the supporting documents. The Caisse des dépôts is then responsible for processing the request, then for the bank transfer.

Better to do a little research on Ciclade, because if no claim is made after a total period of 30 years, the money is definitively returned to the State or to overseas communities, in the case of Polynesia French, New Caledonia and Wallis-and-Futuna.

More than 6 billion euros unclaimed by the French sleep today at the Caisse des dépôts. Since its claim in 2017, the Ciclade has allowed the restitution of more than half a billion euros, a data which is undoubtedly more important since the strong media coverage of the platform in recent weeks. The vast majority of these sums come from bank accounts (66%), followed by life insurance contracts (25.5%) and company savings plans (8.2%). At the end of 2021, the average refund amount was 2,876 euros.
