Jean-Luc Mélenchon held an “immersive and olfactory” meeting in Nantes on Sunday. A new experiment which is in line with his presidential campaign in 2017, when the LFI candidate had innovated with his hologram. What messages did he want to convey through this technological feat?

After his hologram in 2017, Jean-Luc Mélenchon again wanted to innovate with an “immersive and olfactory” meeting on Sunday at the Parc des Expos in Nantes. 3,000 spectators took place in a huge cube formed by four giant screens for a 360 degree experience. What messages did the LFI candidate want to convey through this technological feat?

‘Racism is nonsense’

3,000 participants found themselves immersed in three dimensions: first, verticality. The room suddenly found itself wedged between the Moon and the Earth. At this time, Jean-Luc Mélenchon asks the spectators to gain height. “Seen from space, more than ever, racism is nonsense,” thunders the presidential candidate.

Digital sovereignty

The rebellious leader then praises creolization, that is to say the mixing and mixing of cultures. Then, he continues with the second dimension, the horizontal. “It is the most terrible and the newest dimension, the horizontal of the digital canvas, the one that now covers us all”, announces Jean-Luc Mélenchon. On this subject, he wants to restore its digital sovereignty to France, by owning and installing the submarine cables ourselves.

And finally, the third dimension: the depths. Water and the sea are indeed central pillars of its ecological and humanist program. Jean-Luc Mélenchon absolutely wants to put this question at the heart of the presidential election.
