Oli P .: The singer's wife suffers from a serious illness

Oli P. (41, "So Bist Du") and his wife Pauline (33) have been a couple for twelve years, six years ago they made a covenant for life. In the show "Schlagerlovestory.2020" by Florian Silbereisen (38, "Das Traumschiff") the two wanted to present a duet together for the first time on Saturday (June 6). However, this did not happen. The reason: 33-year-old Pauline is seriously ill and was too weak to stand on stage with her husband.

"Fortunately, Pauline is feeling a little better now. Unfortunately, she is not yet fit enough for a big show appearance," moderator Silbereisen explained to the TV viewers on the ARD program. "That is why Oli sings the song that connects them so much for his Pauline and for all couples who are going through a difficult time." Oli P., whose real name is Oliver Petszokat, then sang visibly moved "Little Torch Burn", while pictures of his wife were faded in on the screen in the background.

Condition has worsened

In conversation with "Bild", the former "GZSZ" actor did not want to reveal after the show which life-threatening illness Pauline suffers from. He only revealed that the 33-year-old has been fighting with her for ten years and that her condition has recently worsened. "We knew that we couldn't get past surgery at some point," said Petszokat. In March it was "so far" that he himself spent "two weeks in the hospital in Cologne".

At the time, the singer posted a photo on Instagram, where he kissed Pauline on the cheek in the hospital. "Most importantly now … even in difficult times: take care of each other", was to be read next to the picture. Pauline is "slowly getting better", her hospital stay "of course has nothing to do with Corona," wrote Petszokat.

Operation "survived well"

According to Oli P., it takes a year for him and his wife to be certain that the operation was successful. "Until then, we don't want to get that out there," he said. However, Pauline "survived the operation" well and was "on the mend". "Sometimes she can take part in everyday life for a few hours and sometimes she is too weak," said the 41-year-old in an interview. "She is now taking the time she needs to get well."

At the weekend Pauline Petszokat was doing comparatively well, she could watch her husband's performance from home. The "planes in the belly" interpreter also said on the show that the days before were "relatively difficult" – and addressed his wife with touching words: "I love you very much!"
