Oliver Hudson takes an unusually open tone about a topic that most people prefer to remain silent about: the rivalry with his much more successful sister Kate Hudson. But he is not ashamed of his feelings of envy.
“I want to earn so much money”: In the joint podcast “Sibling Revelry,” Oliver Hudson, 47, admitted that he was jealous of his successful sister Kate Hudson, 44. For this special episode, he invited Blake Lively’s, 36, half-sister Robyn Lively, 52 – who is also far less successful than her famous sister.
Oliver Hudson: “I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m jealous”
Both come from acting families: Oliver Hudson is the son of Hollywood icon Goldie Hawn, 78, and actor Bill Hudson, 74, and Robyn is the half-sister of an acting star. However, the two were never able to match the great success of their loved ones. That bothers Oliver. “I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m jealous,” the US celebrity magazine “E! News” quoted him from the podcast.
Although he had roles in popular series like “Dawson’s Creek” and “Nahsville”, his big breakthrough never came. And so no big role offers followed like with his sister Kate Hudson, who celebrated her breakthrough with “Almost Famous”. She was nominated for an Oscar in 2001 for the film.
“I don’t want to have to work hard for everything”
“There’s always a part of me that says, ‘Damn man, why can’t I do that?'” Oliver Hudson admits in an interview with Blake Lively’s sister and continues: “I want to play a role like that. I want to be with it “I want to work with people like that. I want to make as much money. I don’t want to have to work hard for everything.”
But Oliver Hudson also emphasizes that his jealousy doesn’t mean he isn’t happy for his younger sister. He loves Kate Hudson very much and feels great “gratitude” for her.
Coaching to understand childhood trauma
Oliver Hudson recently caused a stir with his statements on the “Sibling Revelry” podcast. The 47-year-old revealed that he was undergoing coaching to understand his childhood traumas. However, in the following episode he had to clarify that his mother Goldie Hawn would not have “traumatized” him. His “casual comments” on the topic were taken out of context and “turned into clickbait,” Hudson said.
