Numerous German stars have ventured to the border with Ukraine and also directly into the country itself to deliver important relief supplies.

Ever since the Russian attack on Ukraine, private and public alike have wondered how he or she can help the countless victims of war. Some famous personalities have already gone directly to the border with Ukraine or even beyond to hand over the most important supplies to those in need and to ensure the fleeing the way to safety.

For example, mood singer Matthias Distel (45), better known by the name of his fictional character Ikke Hipgold. He founded the “Summerfield Kids Foundation” and brought needed goods such as food and hygiene items to the Polish-Ukrainian border with a team and several buses. On the way back “we were able to bring 110 people to Germany”, so Distel to the “Bild” newspaper. As many as possible should follow: “We are currently at the border with two more buses that have a capacity for 130 people.”

“Pain and Anger”

Together with Evelyn Burdecki (33) and Mola Adebisi (49), comedian Oliver Pocher (44) recently set out. Together they also brought relief supplies to the crisis area via two charities in Cologne.

After their return, he and Burdecki described their impressions of the border area on their respective Instagram accounts. “What I experience here, I will never forget in my whole life. Such pain, such anger and such helplessness,” says Burdecki, whose parents are from Poland, in an Insta story. “It’s so sad, so awful, so unbelievable.”

Meanwhile, Pocher reports in an Instagram videothat they also went straight to Ukraine. Because that is currently the most difficult part – getting the things into the war-torn country, according to the comedian. “At some point we had to cross the border, which was a very queasy feeling when you cross the border. Then you’re right in the middle.”

Right in the middle were and still are Tokio Hotel drummer Gustav Schäfer (33) and fellow musician David Friedrich (32). They have also set up an aid campaign with which they provide people and animals in need with the most rudimentary things. “I’m incredibly proud of everything that’s being done here under enormous pressure,” Schäfer writes about a picture, on which the volunteers and drivers of the fully loaded vans can be seen. It’s still “just a drop in the ocean,” he warns in a video. However, that motivates him and Friedrich all the more to “continue here”.

“Let’s Dance” star Motsi Mabuse (40) has a special connection to Ukraine. The parents of her husband Evgenij Voznyuk (38) come from there and live in Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine. Only recently was he able to hug both of them safely on the Polish side of the border, as video shows, the RTL is available.

Last Friday he headed towards the border to deliver relief supplies that he had collected together with Mabuse and numerous helpers. In the run-up to the campaign, he had to promise his wife “not to go into the Ukraine”, as she had told “Bild”..
