Shia LaBeouf was set to star in ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ but was fired, according to Olivia Wilde. However, LaBeouf denies this.

Shia LaBeouf (36) was supposed to play in Olivia Wilde’s (38) film “Don’t Worry Darling”. But like Harry Styles’ (28) girlfriend recently in an interview with “Variety” explained, the actor was fired for his “belligerent energy”. However, LaBeouf now denies this claim. He left the film “due to lack of time for rehearsals”, now reports the industry magazine. The 36-year-old was slated to play the lead role Jack, which was later recast by Harry Styles.

“His way of working did not correspond to the ethos”

A few days ago, Wilde gave “Variety” an extensive interview, which also spoke of Shia LaBeouf. In 2020, when production of “Don’t Worry Darling” had just begun, she decided to fire the actor. “I say that as someone who admires his work very much, but his way of working didn’t match the ethos that I demand in my productions,” said the producer. “He has a combative energy and personally I don’t think that’s conducive to the best performances.” Ultimately, it is her responsibility to protect the production and the cast.

However, in emails now sent to Variety, LaBeouf denies he was fired. He instead claims he left the film project of his own accord on August 17, 2020. The actor forwarded two emails he says he sent to Wilde. In the news, he wrote, “You and I both know the reasons for my exit. I left your film because your actors and I could not find time to rehearse.”

Olivia Wilde reportedly begged LaBeouf to continue

LaBeouf also sent the magazine screenshots of text messages he sent to Wilde in August 2020. In it, he told her he had to get out of Don’t Worry Darling. They also reveal that LaBeouf and Wilde met in person in Los Angeles on August 16, 2020 to discuss his exit from the film. Later that night, Wilde wrote: “Thanks for letting me share your thoughts. I know it’s not funny. It doesn’t feel good to say no to anyone and I respect your honesty.” He officially left production the next day, LaBeouf claims.

Alongside the lyrics, the actor sent a video that Wilde allegedly sent to him on August 19, 2020. In it, the 38-year-old is said to say that she is not yet ready to “give it up”. Wilde is said to allude to tensions between LaBeouf and leading actress Florence Pugh (26). His exit might be “a wake-up call for Miss Flo [Florence Pugh, Anm. d. Red.]”, explained Wilde, and “I want to know if you are willing to give the thing with me, with us, a chance”.

Olivia Wilde has not yet commented on the allegations. The film “Don’t Worry Darling” starts in German cinemas on September 22nd.
