For Paris Match, Olivier de Kersauson confided in his illness. It was in 2018 that he learned that he had cancer.
In 2018, Olivier de Kersauson learned that he had cancer. A test now behind him. But for Paris Matchthe Member of Big heads made a point of discussing the disease. “The disease is virtual as long as you are not sick”, he explains to our colleagues from Paris Match. “And when it happens to you, you see the suffering of people. Their dismay. their helplessness. Their desperation. But I didn’t take it for a fight”he confides. When he learned that he had cancer, he was in Paris.
Fortunately, Olivier de Kersauson was surrounded by good doctors. But the vision he has of the disease is quite astonishing. “I found it interesting to talk about what the disease taught me not about myself but about others when you see them suffer. I saw people suffer and I found it very hard, very moving sometimes. Cancer wards, it’s really hard… You’re dealing with people who have no defence, who are vulnerable. When you see a young woman with children, it’s a horror. I was old already so, in fact, I had done everything that was interesting to do. It was not a drama if I disappeared. For me, yes, but not for long.
Olivier de Kersauson always teasing
Always teasing, even acerbic, Olivier de Kersauson is in good shape and doesn’t hesitate to show it, as on the set of It’s up to you with Nolwenn Leroy. “He still calls me his ‘know*** favorite singer’ because you have to know that Olivier doesn’t like singers! (…) I have boundless admiration for him and I think that he knows it. I know it bothers you, I know it! But it doesn’t matter, we’ll have to deal with it, that’s all”, she said. With a look of consternation, the writer rolled her eyes before muttering: “Yeah, well… Shall we taste the tuna?”
