Olivier Faure reappointed as head of the PS, Mayer-Rossignol contests

PARIS (Reuters) – The Socialist Party (PS) announced on Friday the reappointment of Olivier Faure as its head, the day after elections, so victory was claimed by both the outgoing First Secretary and his opponent, the mayor of Rouen. , Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol.

Olivier Faure obtained 12,076 votes, or 50.83% of the votes cast, against 11,683 (49.17%) for Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, less than 400 votes ahead, said the PS in a press release.

Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol challenged the announcement of the renewal of Olivier Faure, highlighting “serious and manifest irregularities” during the holding of the ballot.

“I ask that the proofing commission be convened. Without it, no result can obviously be proclaimed,” he said on Twitter.

The final results will be announced after the vote of the delegates of the Marseille congress which will be held on January 27, 28 and 29, 2023.
