Olivier Galzi: what has become of the journalist since leaving television?


Far from television, Olivier Galzi is now vice-president of a company specializing in airport management and regional development. In an interview with Télé-Loisirs, he agreed to give some secrets about his new life.

A 180 degree turn! Journalist, Olivier Galzi presented the Télématin newspapers from 1998 to 2010 before joining I-Télé (now CNews, editor’s note) from 2010 to 2017. After a quick stint on LCI, the former figure of news joined the world of industry and services. In fact, Olivier Galzi has been vice-president of the Edeis group for a year, a company specializing in airport management and regional development. Asked by TV-Leisure on these new functions, the ex-journalist explained: “After 20 years of TV commentary, I longed for more meaning and action (…) This approach is my own choice. I was not put in the closet. I had a place, but I lacked the meaning.

Graduated from Sciences-Po and from the National School of Administration of Quebec, Olivier Galzi however returned to the benches of the Institute of Higher Economic and Commercial Studies before meeting the entrepreneur Jean-Luc Schnoebelen. Referring to their meeting, he explained: “He had asked me for strategic advice. I spoke with him about the development of new territories, in the regions. To put it simply, we are a private operator, whose vocation is to save public money, by managing infrastructures, and by generating new synergies within the regions.“Happy, Olivier Galzi added:”The journalist that I was – and that I remain – now finds itself in a position to act and resolve, after years of comments that did not really change the game …

Olivier Galzi, could he come back to television?

Yes the old info figure likes the world of industry and services, he says he has not given up on television and journalism. I don’t see my experience as a one-way trip, but rather as a brick of life that enriches me even more in my relationship with journalism. Perhaps this experience will bring me back there one day. But that’s not my topic today“, he revealed.
