Olympic Games 2022: a Finnish skier finds himself with his penis frozen in the middle of the race

Funny misadventure for Remi Lindholm. Committed this weekend to the men’s mass start in cross-country skiing at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, the Finn had his penis frozen during the race.

As often during the competition, the participants were confronted with extreme climatic conditions, with negative temperatures regularly flirting with -10°C, and even at times with -20°C. The violent and icy wind had also pushed the organizers to shorten the race to 30 km instead of the 50 km initially planned.

And while the thermometer showed around -15°C at the time of departure, Remi Lindholm paid a high price for this polar cold by having his penis frozen. “You can guess what was frozen when I crossed the finish line. It was one of the worst competitions I have taken part in,” he told Finnish media. “It was pretty unbearable pain,” Lindholm added.

After finishing the race in 28th place, more than four minutes behind Russian Alexander Bolshunov, crowned Olympic champion, he had to use a kettle to warm up and remedy the painful problem. “When the body parts started to warm up after the finish, the pain was unbearable,” he described.

This is not the first time that Remi Lindholm has faced this kind of problem, particularly because of the suits which offer little protection from the cold. He had already had his penis frozen during a contested race last year in Ruka at his home in Finland.
