3000m steeplechase: Girma not seriously injured

The Ethiopian Athletics Association has given the all-clear following steeplechase runner Lamecha Girma’s serious fall. The 23-year-old is doing well and CT scans have shown that he has not suffered any injuries to his head or legs, the association announced on Thursday morning. Girma’s back leg got caught on the third-to-last obstacle on Wednesday evening around 200 meters from the finish and he crashed forward onto the track. The Ethiopian initially lay motionless before being taken out of the stadium by paramedics wearing a neck brace a short time later.
