Olympic opening ceremony: Matt Pokora disappointed not to have been contacted, “I thought I was legitimate”

Matt Pokora expresses some regrets. He just released a new song called At your place, at my place, in duet with Congolese singer Fally Ipupa. A title that seems perfect for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games which will begin on July 26, since it resonates like a call to communion. “The goal is for everyone to make it their own, explains the singer in an interview with BFM TV this Saturday, May 18. May this generation be able to dance together to these rhythms and commune. This piece is a communion; that’s what sport is, that’s what it is the Olympicsthat’s sharing”.

The singer therefore deplored the fact that the organizers did not contact him so that he could sing during the opening ceremony, even if he believes that Aya Nakamura fits the bill. “I would have liked to do it, it was not offered to me”, he lamented. “I thought I was legitimate for this kind of big event, big ceremony… But that’s life!”, he added, before recalling “to be renowned for being perhaps the singer closest to the world of sport, and certainly the one who has given the biggest stage performances for 15, 20 years now”.
