OM: heavy sanctions against the Marseille club after the incidents against Salonika

UEFA hit hard. OM were heavily sanctioned on Tuesday by the European body after the incidents between fans at the Vélodrome stadium during the first leg of the Europa League Conference quarter-final against PAOK Salonika (2-1).

Marseille will be deprived of some of its supporters for the reception of Feyenoord Rotterdam during the semi-final second leg of the competition (May 5) with the closure of the North Turn. The Olympian club also received two fines totaling 98,000 euros for “igniting smoke bombs, throwing projectiles”, behavior of the public and blocking of public passages.

For its part, the Greek club was not spared. He was fined 50,000 euros and his supporters were banned from traveling to the next European match away from PAOK Salonika.

The latter will also have to pay for the reimbursement of the damage caused to the visitors’ stand of the Vélodrome, which has been badly damaged with in particular many seats torn off.

On the sidelines of the confrontation between OM and PAOK, many clashes between supporters of two clubs had broken out the day before the match and continued before and during the match. Thirty police officers were injured and a dozen people were arrested.
