To accompany the release of its first OM-1 camera, OM System is launching two new lenses. These are two zooms: M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm F2.8 PRO II and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm F4 PRO.
The first is a slight redesign of the classic kit zoom that we tested in 2014. Among the changes, a new fluorine treatment on the front lens and an IP53 certification, against IPX1 for the first version. Weather-protected optics offering a 24-80mm focal length range in 35mm equivalent. This model replaces version 1 in the catalogue.
A unique telezoom
The second, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm F4 PRO, is a real novelty. This 80-300 telephoto zoom in 24×36 equivalent comes in addition to the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150 mm F2.8 PRO and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150 mm F4-5.6 II Lens. This type of zoom is interesting for sports or wildlife. For the optical construction, the zoom is based on 15 elements divided into 10 groups. It weighs 382 g for a diameter of 68.9 mm. When deployed, its length varies between 99.4 mm and 124 mm. Its size does not differ between the wide-angle and the zoom. Closest focusing distance is 70cm across the entire zoom range. It is also IP53 certified, and therefore resistant to dust projections, frost and splashes.
Price and availability
Both zooms will be marketed from March 2022. The M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40 mm F2.8 PRO II will be sold for 999 €, while the M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150 mm F4 PRO will be offered for 899 €.
