“The FDP should see where they have agreed to everything”

The Liberals are protesting against the planned end for new oil and gas heating systems from 2024. Green leader Nouripour refers to agreements and calls on the coalition partners to do more climate protection overall.
Green party leader Omid Nouripour has criticized the FDP’s reaction to the draft bill ending new oil and gas heating systems. That was an agreement from the coalition agreement, he said in the “early start” of ntv. “Perhaps the FDP should see where they have agreed to everything they suddenly no longer want to know.”
It’s not about leaving existing oil heating systems running, but about ensuring that new installations are climate-friendly, emphasized Nouripour. That must then be encouraged. “If we set a target, the state must also help financially so that everyone can afford it.”
“We always found solutions behind the scenes”
Nevertheless, Nouripour is optimistic: “The three of us will sit down and find a solution for everything,” said the Green leader. “I admit that in the last few months you’ve mostly heard the volume out there. But we’ve always found solutions behind the scenes.” He is assuming that this will also work this time and that what has been agreed with each other will continue to apply.
The same applies to the discussion about the planned acceleration of planning. The Greens want to limit the simplification of the rules to the expansion of rails and bridges, while the FDP also wants to prioritize the motorways. “The question isn’t so much who is ahead as a party, but how we can move the country forward and, above all, how we do climate protection,” said Nouripour.
He emphasized that climate protection helps everyone. “Accordingly, it is of course important to ensure that we don’t do anything when it comes to speeding up planning that is simply bad for everyone.” He also made the SPD responsible: “If the SPD writes ‘climate’ on the posters, then maybe they should go along with it so that we can make progress there.”
Equality should play a “central role” in foreign policy
Referring to feminist foreign policy, Nouripour said it was “one of the key issues of justice around the world.” Today, the Federal Cabinet is discussing the Federal Foreign Office’s guidelines for a feminist foreign policy and the Federal Ministry for Development Cooperation’s feminist strategy. Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock from the Greens and Development Minister Svenja Schulze from the SPD then want to make a joint statement.
The point is that Germany, with its values and achievements, should take on a pioneering role in this area, according to Nouripour. “First and foremost, this means that the question of equal rights is also considered and that the question of equal rights always plays a central role in foreign policy fields of action.”
