The GeForce RTX 4000 series cards promise to be significantly more powerful than the previous generation.

Of course, this is only a rumor that will have to be validated when the tests are published. Of course, this is “only” 3DMark, and not a real video game. However, the latest leaks confirm the clear increase in power between the RTX 3000 and the RTX 4000.

On October 12, NVIDIA should prematurely age the Ampere generation, its RTX 3000 cards. On this date, the firm led by Jen-Hsun Huang will market the GeForce RTX 4090 and begin the transition to the Lovelace generation.

In a few photos, we have already presented the imposing card that will be the spearhead of the new NVIDIA range. If the card is ultimately not really bigger than the GeForce RTX 3090 and RTX 3090 Ti, it should however be much more powerful.

Technical information reports 76.3 billion transistors, an explosion in the number of CUDA cores (16,384), RT cores (128) and Tensor cores (512) for unparalleled computing capabilities in this segment of the market.

Nearly 25K points on Port Royal

Still, beyond the technical information, we can’t wait to see what it has in store. In the absence of the first results on the most popular games, the leak of the day concerns the most popular benchmarking tool: 3DMark.

So, on the FireStrike Ultra stage, the RTX 4090 scores 25,256 points. She signs a nice 18,892 points on TimeSpy Extreme and still displays 24,886 points on Port Royal. On each of these scenes, the RTX 4090 is simply the best card ever tested.

Note that the RTX 3090 Ti scores 14,007, 10,709 and 14,751 points on these three stages. The RTX 3090 is even more clearly exceeded: the RTX 4090 is 2x better on FireStrike, 1.86x better on TimeSpy and still 1.84x better on Port Royal.

A synthetic test like 3DMark cannot be enough on its own, but let’s recognize that the differences are striking and, inevitably, of better omen than if the RTX 4090 had been undermined by its ancestors. Only a few days left before the publication of the first tests!
