Facebook wants to modernize by allowing its users to have up to five different profiles on a single account. This option is currently in the test phase in the United States, with the main goal of generating new enthusiasm for a platform in decline.

The information has been relayed in particular in recent days by Bloomberg and by CNN Business, who spoke with Meta spokesperson Leonard Lam. The new strategy adopted by Facebook for its users is clear: personalize their experience based on their interests and relationships “.

A mandatory transition to stay in the race for social networks

Unlike TikTok, Facebook is struggling to attract young people and is seeing its number of users under 25 decrease day by day.

An alarming observation for the parent company Meta, which must react by offering more intuitive and engaging content in the hope of boosting the interactions of the youngest with the platform. The social media landscape continues to expand over time, forcing businesses to constantly adapt and innovate to stay relevant and attract ever more active members.

Facebook is no exception to the rule and intends to stay in the race for users with this new feature allowing the creation of multiple profiles.

The strategy to attract young people again

As part of this new feature being tested, it will therefore now be possible to associate four additional profiles with the same account. Facebook notably invites users to create more specific profiles that each revolve around well-defined interests. You can thus dedicate a profile to your sports practice, use another to talk about video games or even create one especially for your professional life. Each profile will have its own feed, friends and identity.

Adding multiple profiles is not entirely new for Facebook, which had already developed this option for public figures wishing to separate their private life from their professional life. In 2020, the platform also set up specific profiles for students. Facebook is therefore continuing its momentum here, in the hope of making users – especially the youngest – want to interact around their passions through these new dedicated profiles.

Note that it will be possible to use pseudonyms for these additional profiles, but these will remain subject to the strict regulations of the platform, according to the spokesperson for Meta. According to this guideline, each user’s main account will still need to specify their real identity.
