On Gmail, you will no longer spend hours looking for an old email

Following those rolled out in July, new improvements to Gmail based on the analysis of user habits improve the search among received emails. This novelty should make it possible to display more relevant and more contextual results according to Google.

Gmail will learn to know you better, and above all to better understand your habits, to refine its search and make it more efficient. This new feature, which will initially concern the platform’s web client, is in addition to the improvements deployed in July, alongside other changes related to the interface. These improvements were already taking advantage of user habits to refine access to contacts or even personalize certain suggestions, recalls Android Police.

In detail, Google explains that it will now take into account past search activities to improve results on Gmail. On the other hand, this means that these results will be optimized according to what you have been searching for in recent months or in recent years. If you have been using the tool for a long time, this new feature should prove useful. Google hopes in any case to make “ more relevant and contextual » the results displayed through this new search.

A change that will not jump out at first glance

Note, however, that this new feature will not be able to operate normally if you use Gmail in offline mode… and that it may not be obvious at first glance. Google is indeed counting on a change of background, practical on a daily basis, but above all discreet. Finding a particular email in your thousands of old messages should still be significantly faster once this change is rolled out.

Google also promises that this new feature will gradually become more effective as you use search, thanks to the machine learning it benefits from.

On the launch side, finally, Google speaks in a press release of a gradual deployment to all Gmail users over the next two weeks. Mid-December at the latest, everyone should therefore already be able to take advantage of it.
