On Netflix and Co .: These films trigger the Christmas spirit

The Advent season is getting closer. These films on streaming portals add to the Christmas spirit on the sofa at home.

The first Advent and the pre-Christmas period are within reach. However, the corona pandemic is clouding the anticipation in many places. Christmas markets are canceled and it is still unclear how the festival can be celebrated this year. Christmas films can serve as a distraction. The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two will be available on November 25th. The film unites Kurt Russell (69) as Santa Claus with Mrs. Claus, who plays Goldie Hawn (74). The actor couple has been in a private relationship since 1983. It's been two years since siblings Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy (Judah Lewis) saved Christmas. Kate is now supposed to spend Christmas in Cancun – along with her mother's new boyfriend and his son Jack (Jahzir Bruno). She doesn't like that at all and she runs away. When the mysterious evil wizard Belsnickel appears, Kate has a new adventure with Santa Claus.

The cult comedy "Kevin – Alone at Home" (1990) celebrated its 30th anniversary this year. With the Disney + streaming service, subscribers can watch the film as often as they want and reminisce. Main actor Macaulay Culkin is now 40 years old. In the popular Christmas film, he is forgotten by his family at home at the age of eight, while his parents and siblings leave for Paris on Christmas vacation. Only during the flight does his mother notice that Kevin is missing. Meanwhile, he has to protect the house from two burglars and comes up with a lot of tricks.

"Santa Clause – A beautiful Christmas present" (1994) creates a classic Christmas atmosphere. "Listen who's hammering" star Tim Allen (67) becomes Santa Claus. Because the real Santa Clause fell off the roof on Christmas Eve.

"Disney's A Christmas Story" (2009) is based on the story of the same name by Charles Dickens (1812-1870). The main role is played by comedian Jim Carrey (58, "Dumb and Dumber"). He not only mimes the grouchy Ebenezer Scrooge, but also the spirit of the past, the spirit of the present and the spirit of the future. The short film "Once upon a time there was a snowman" tells the story of Olaf Schneemann, known from "The Ice Queen – Totally Unabashed" (2013) and "The Ice Queen 2" (2019). He was created in the first part by Elsa and then meets her sister Anna, Kristoff and reindeer Sven in the forest. What Olaf experienced during this time is not the only thing that the short film explains. In the original, actor Josh Gad (39) lends the cute snowman his voice, in the German dubbing Hape Kerkeling (55) can be heard.

The Christmas comedy "The Good Fairy" will be available on Disney + from December 4th. In it, the young fairy Eleanor (Jillian Bell) learns that her dream job is about to die out. She wants to prove that the world needs good fairies. When she finds the letter from a ten-year-old, she tracks down the sender. However, Mackenzie (Isla Fisher) is now a 40-year-old single mother who works for a news channel. After the death of her husband a few years ago, Mackenzie gave up believing in a fairytale life, but Eleanor is determined to convince her otherwise.

Prime customers can watch "My Fake Date" (2017) for free. The film is based on the bestseller "Mistletoe Promise" by Richard Paul Evans (58). Elise (Jaime King from "Hart of Dixie") meets Nick (Luke Macfarlane from "Brothers & Sisters") in the run-up to Christmas. Both are dreading the upcoming festivities because they are constantly being asked about their non-existent love life. Without further ado they make a pact to be able to show a fake partner during the Christmas season.

"Completely crazy Christmas" (2018) is the motto for teenagers Kara Gentry (Sierra McCormick) and Jessie Wilkins (Brighton Sharbino). While Kara comes from a wealthy family, Jessie grew up down to earth. On the way to see their grandparents, they sit next to each other on the plane and decide to switch roles. Neither of them know their relatives and want to swap places for a week. Chaos seems guaranteed.
