On-site inspection – Lugner villa in Vienna: Police blocked off the street

A society legend is no more: Richard Lugner is dead. Despite immediate rescue measures, Lugner died on Monday in his villa in Döbling.

A passerby reported to the “Krone” newspaper about the rescue operation in front of Richard Lugner’s villa on Monday morning. A short time later it was clear that even the emergency doctor could no longer help the society builder. The access road to the Lugner villa in the Döbling district of Untersievering was cordoned off on Monday morning, and only relatives and direct neighbors were allowed to drive through. “Krone” photographer Klemens Groh recorded the situation on site: a funeral director’s car drove up around Monday afternoon. Some family members had also arrived at the property. Villa built for Karl WlaschekLugner lived in a house that he had planned and built for Billa founder Karl Wlaschek in the 1980s. Lugner later bought the house back from his friend Wlaschek and moved his then wife Christina “Mausi” Lugner in. He most recently lived in the house with his last wife Simone.
