On the banks of Lake Fuschl – Abramowitsch Villa: country sloppy documents

A dizzying sale, countless unanswered questions: A lot of information is missing about the property of the Russian billionaire Roman Abramowitsch on Lake Fuschl – and now even countless documents from the state of Salzburg…

Deceptive idyll at Lake Fuschl! Inconsistencies are piling up around the villa of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich. Important documents about the controversial purchase can no longer be found in the archives of the state of Salzburg. As a reminder: the oligarch’s property – the so-called “fisherman’s house” – is located on the south bank of the lake. The three-part villa includes more than two hectares of forest and almost 6,600 square meters of agricultural land. The research project “Cyprus Confidential” proved last November that the property came into the possession of the Abramovich family via a shell company and a British trustee. According to the land register, the “Fischerhaus” now belongs to the oligarch’s daughter Anna. The Salzburg Real Estate Transactions Act actually has very strict rules when selling properties to EU foreigners. Why did the purchase still work? The Greens wanted to know that and asked State Councilor Martin Zauner (FPÖ). The fact is: The state government issued land transfer approval for the purchase in October 2007. However, according to Zauner, the file on the procedure has disappeared. The documents are neither in paper nor in electronic form. According to Zauner, reversing the purchase – as vehemently demanded by the Greens – is fundamentally possible. However, for this you would need the relevant trust deed. However, this is not available to the state of Salzburg.
