On the other side of the ring road on M6: this tip for shooting the libertine club scene with Omar Sy

A sympathetic buddy movie broadcast on M6, “On the other side of the ring road” was led by the duo Laurent Lafitte and Omar Sy, in the guise of two cops that everything opposes. A scene was still complicated to shoot for the latter…

Released almost ten years ago, On the other side of the ring road was a friendly Buddy Movie led by the duo Laurent Lafitte and Omar Sy, who play two cops that absolutely or almost everything opposes. A vein already widely dug, particularly in American cinema, with the saga of the Beverly Hills Cop and other Top Cops.

The filming of this police comedy signed by David Charhon (and which, for the record, has a sequel released recently on Netflix, Far from the ring road), had also started at top speed for Omar Sy, just after that of the Untouchables.

If the actor was quite comfortable in the sneakers of a suburban cop, it was not the same when filming a scene. In this case the one where he finds himself face to face with a naked woman in a swingers club.

I’m not comfortable with sex scenes” told the comedian, of a very modest nature, to Paris Match, during the promotion of the film. “We shot in a real swingers club, and I was embarrassed […] Even if I knew that the participants were extras and that it was for fake. We shot in the middle of the day, but still…”

The filmmaker has therefore found the ideal solution to put him more at ease: “On the day of filming, when the trio arrives in the locker room, normally it was a young woman who had to come out naked from one of the cabins. Omar hesitated and I told myself that the best way to reassure him was still to show him example! I undressed, I took the basket, and we shot the scene naked”, remembered David Charhon.
