A great classic of romantic comedy, Dirty Dancing marks the history of cinema thanks to its legendary couple (formed by Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey), its excellent soundtrack ((I’ve Had) The Time of My Life crowned Best Song at the Oscars), its cult lines (“We don’t leave Baby in a corner”) and its mythical final note (which we all dream of reproducing, like Romain Duris and Vanessa Paradis in L’ Heartbreaker or Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in Crazy, Stupid, Love).
Under cover of sensuality and insipidity, this generational work also has the merit of approaching subjects such as female emancipation, social inequalities and abortion in an intelligent and modern way.
Despite a modest budget and actors then little known, Dirty Dancing achieved great success on the American continent during its theatrical release. In France, you have to wait for its release on VHS to put it in the cult films section of the 80s. On AlloCiné, it has an average viewer rating of 3.6 out of 5.
