THE FILM OF THE DAY
Winner of the Oscar for best foreign film for his first feature film, La Victoire en chantant, Jean-Jacques Annaud renounces the possibility of an American adventure to devote himself to a second feature film in French. Contrary to his habits, he is working on a contemporary film, inspired by the epic of the modest regional football club En Avant de Guingamp in the Coupe de France in 1973.
Subsequently, the film gains even more realism: its co-screenwriter Francis Veber breathes a satirical tone into the screenplay, coach Guy Roux brings his experience as a technical adviser, and the real players of AJ Auxerre and Troyes AC participate in match scenes.
Considered one of the best films by Jean-Jaques Annaud – and as one of the best films about the world of football – Coup de tête has an average viewer rating of 3.9/5 on AlloCiné.
