/ Mom / Child / Back to school 2020: when will the back to school allowance be paid?
Who says back to school means change! An exceptional increase in the Back to School Allowance (ARS) was announced in early July by the government. An additional amount will be paid to smaller families from August 18. This aid comes within the framework of the “poverty plan”, which will be increased according to the evolution of the social plan.
Back to school is a sign of novelty, change, but also shopping! It is also a difficult time for some families' budgets. So how do you prepare for the return of the little ones to school? For the 2020-2021 school year, an exceptional bonus of 100 euros will be paid on August 18. What to organize well before the return of the schoolchildren!
The allowance payment ceiling
Who is upgrading for? You should know that the amount of the premium varies according to the number of dependent children. So to get help, here are some figures to help you find your way around:
- 1 dependent child: 25,093 euros
- 2 dependent children: 30,884 euros
- 3 dependent children: 36,675 euros
- For an additional dependent child: 5,791 euros
The conditions for obtaining
Your child must be 6 years old and must be enrolled either in a public establishment or in a private establishment. Another good news is that the Family Allowances Fund (CAF) will be able to pay this premium when a child follows a school program through a remote organization such as the CNED. However, families where the child is home educated are excluded.
It is important to know that the amount of ARS also depends on the age of your child.
- 6 to 10 years old: 469.95 €
- 11 to 14 years old: 490.39 €
- 15 to 18 years old: 503.90 €
Do not panic ! If you do not meet the conditions, CAF may pay part of the allowance called "the differential back-to-school allowance". Indeed, it may be paid to beneficiaries whose resources exceed the ceiling provided for the allocation of the allowance.
Good to know: the allowance will be paid automatically on August 18 for children aged 6 to 15. If the conditions are met, then no action is required.
For children aged 16 to 18, you must confirm your child's schooling for the start of the 2021 school year on the CAF website (caf.fr).
