  • “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” will be shown on free TV for the first time today.
  • Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio shine as Hollywood stereotypes of the seventies.
  • “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” does not come to the ZDF media library.

1969 in Hollywood: Quentin Tarantino’s ode to the Hollwood of his childhood days comes, as usual, peppered with superstars. Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio make a congenial screen duo. It is the master director’s ninth feature film.

Once upon a time in Hollywood

The epic depicts the Hollywood star factory of the early 1970s with Tarantino’s typical attention to detail. Star director Roman Polanski (Rafal Zawierucha), sect killer Charles Manson (Damon Herriman) and kung fu star Bruce Lee (Mike Moh) and many other stars and starlets of this time are woven into the story. Fictitious elements enrich actual events. In the film, for example, Charles Manson’s gang of murderers does not break into Roman Polanski’s house, but into that of the fictional Hollywood roughneck Rick Dalton, played by DiCaprio.

“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” balances between reality and fiction.

He’s a western villain actor of the highest caliber and Pitt is his stuntman or go-anywhere man. The duo is at the center of the action, but “Harley Quinn” star Margot Robbie, as the young actress Sharon Tate, who was married to Polanski and murdered by the Manson family, also puts her stamp on “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”.

If you haven’t seen the film yet, this Monday at 10:15 p.m. on ZDF you have the opportunity to watch Quentin Tarantino’s Hollywood epic completely free of advertising. Regardless of whether it’s on TV or online, the strip has to be watched linearly. That means that “Once Upon a Time Hollywood” is not available in the ZDF media library after it has been broadcast.
