“Once Upon A Time” star Chris Gauthier has died at the age of 48 after a short illness.

Family and colleagues mourn the death of Canadian actor Chris Gauthier (1976 – 2024). Like the TriStar agency, where Gauthier was under contract, in a statement that, among other things, Industry magazine “Deadline” announced that the actor, known from “Once Upon A Time”, “Smallville” and “Eureka”, died on Friday morning, February 23rd, at the age of 48. Accordingly, Gauthier died of an unspecified short illness.

The actor’s friends and colleagues say goodbye on social media. Chad Colvin of TriStar Appearances writes in a post on Facebook: “When his wife contacted me yesterday with the news, I cried for hours in disbelief. […] Chris was, in the truest sense of the word, the textbook definition of a character actor.” The actor, who was known for his role as Smee in the US fantasy series “Once Upon A Time”, was also close to the late actor Robin Williams (1951- 2014) and Anthony Hopkins (86) in front of the camera.

“Once Upon A Time” colleague Colin O’Donoghue (43), who played the role of Hook, also devotes his time to Gauthier Instagram a post: “Rest in peace, Chris!”, the actor writes about a photo that shows him with Gauthier in the fantasy series. “My love and thoughts go out to Erin and the boys! We will miss you, brother! You were the true captain!”

Gauthier is survived by his wife Erin and their two sons Ben and Sebastian.
