One person was killed on Sunday and five others were injured in Ukrainian strikes against the Russian region of Belgorod, bordering Ukraine, the region’s governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said on Telegram. According to him, the shots targeted Belgorod, the regional capital, injuring four people, as well as a district located nearby where “there is unfortunately one dead and one injured”.
The windows of several buildings were smashed and 14 houses were damaged, Gladkov said. Localities and infrastructures in the region very frequently suffer from fire, often fatal, attributed by Moscow to the Ukrainian army. The regional capital Belgorod was also directly hit several times. The governor indicated at the end of November that a line of fortifications was under construction on the border, without specifying the length or its location.

Russian Defense Minister visited the area of operation in Ukraine
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited the area of the military operation in Ukraine to inspect Russian forces deployed there, the Russian military said in a statement on Sunday. Sergei Shoigu “inspected the Russian forces deployed in the area of the special military operation”, including going to the front line to speak with soldiers, the statement said. The military officials on the spot also presented him with reports on the current situation on the ground and the actions of the Russian forces, according to the same source.
The press release does not specify when this trip took place, but its announcement comes two days after a meeting between Vladimir Putin and the leaders of the Russian operation in Ukraine, including Mr. Shoigu.
