One million connected: Squeezie breaks an audience record on Twitch with its GP Explorer

This is an absolute record for a French-speaking Twitch channel. This weekend, more than a million people connected at the same time on the same account: that of the biggest French youtubeur, Squeezie. He was hosting an F4 car race with 21 other streaming and Youtube stars. This race called “GP Explorer” could therefore be followed on his Twitch channel.

Training for more than six months

And inevitably, 22 streamers with large communities of fans, the event drew crowds. And not only online: on site too, there were 40,000 spectators at Le Mans on the Bugatti circuit. This audience is undoubtedly due to the quality of the event which was a real sporting spectacle. Squeezie has been organizing this race for several months, supported by the Fédération Française de Sport Automobiles. Streamers and youtubers had to train for six months, because it was a first for all. Some even had to start by passing the license, before starting training in racing cars.

The event cost between 2.5 and 3 million euros

Between these training sessions and the race itself, the event cost between 2.5 million and 3 million euros. An amount revealed by Squeezie himself. This amount explains the presence of multiple sponsors who, given the audience record, should not at all regret their investment. Faced with the success of his event, Squeezie shed a few tears, even before the start of the race. And at the end of the day, he addressed the public: “Thank you very much for coming, for coming to see us. It is thanks to you that we can do this kind of event”.

This Grand Prix was unanimously hailed on social networks. When we look on Twitter, we see a lot of fans sharing videos of Squeezie’s early days, when he was making videos in his room, a little with the means at hand. Today, eleven years later, the Youtubeur manages to organize such an event. Hat !
