This beloved Star Wars game is making a comeback on PC and next-gen consoles.

Good news: it will also be available on older generation consoles.

Star Wars: Dark Forces returns to Earth, nearly 30 years later

between the exit of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor at the end of April and the formalization with great fanfare of star wars outlaws by Ubisoft last June, the legendary saga imagined by George Lucas does not seem ready to see its lightsaber extinguished in video games. This is without counting on the very distant arrival of star wars eclipsedesigned by the French teams of Quantic Dream, and the PC and PS5 remake of Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR), developed by the Aspyr studio. But how about, to wait, to dive into the remaster of a Star Wars game released for the very first time in 1995?

You most certainly remember Star Wars: Dark Forces. Originally released on PC, the title also saw the light of day on the first PlayStation of the name in 1996. Produced by LucasArts, it is a first-person shooter in which the player controls a mercenary called Kyle Katarn. Raise your saber: the title will now make a comeback in an updated version!

4K, 120 fps and a few other surprises

Developed by Nightdive Studios, which has just completed its work on the colossal remaster of Quake II, Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster intends to remind the youngest who traveled the galaxy, 28 years ago. The campaign events take place right after those of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Concretely, this remastered version will allow you to (re)discover the title in 4K resolution and 120 fps (depending on the platform). The studio promises many new features and provides 3D rendering that should appeal to fans of the first hour. You can now enjoy a first trailer:

Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster is expected on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. Regarding the release date, we will have to be a little patient: the Nightdive Studios teams promise to communicate it during the year.
