And it seems that the advent of a new competitor is responsible for a huge departure in the TV series category. One of the most popular shows of all time will soon be unavailable.
Netflix will have to remove this absolutely cult series
Programs that belong to the “back catalog” of video streaming platforms are not intended to stay forever. At some point, these must necessarily leave, but can absolutely return if the exploitation rights are renewed. The series created by Marta Kauffman and David Crane, having revealed to the world actresses like Courteney Cox aka Monica Geller, who subsequently became a star of Scream, but also Jennifer Aniston aka Rachel Green. Throughout the 10 seasons, we follow the daily lives of six friends linked by a deep friendship. A camaraderie that will even evolve into a romantic relationship for some of them. The series Friends has gone beyond the simple framework of the small screen to become a monument of pop culture. A television show that fans rewatch on repeat at least once a year for some, if not more. Currently all episodes are on Netflix, but that will be over soon.
If we are to believe the information from What’s on Netflix, the platform will remove all of Friends from July 1, 2024. Concretely, you will therefore have until June 30 to view all 10 seasons. For the moment, the firm with the red N has not officially communicated about this departure, but this is not the first time that the series has said goodbye. Already in 2020, Netflix US and Canada have lost Friends. This deletion could be explained by the arrival of Max in France. Given that it is a Warner production, the production company might want to ensure exclusivity for the broadcast to gain subscribers when it launches here.
