An explosion has occurred in the center of the northern Italian metropolis of Milan.
According to Italian media reports, a van with oxygen bottles on board exploded, causing several cars to burst into flames.
The driver of the truck injured his hand.
A school nearby and a residential building had to be evacuated. A pharmacy was also affected. The incident happened near Porta Romana in downtown Milan. Pictures show flames and lots of black smoke. The Carabinieri were also there.
Milan Mayor Giuseppe Sala told media professionals that the incident was not linked to criminal intent or terrorism. He further confirmed that there are no fatalities at this time.
