What is it about ?
There was a time when Gol D. Roger was the greatest of all pirates, the “Pirate King” was his nickname. Upon his death, his priceless treasure known as “One Piece” was hidden somewhere on the “Grand Line”.
Many pirates went in search of this treasure but all died before they even reached it. Monkey D. Luffy dreams of finding this legendary treasure and becoming the new “Pirate King”. After eating a devil fruit, he possesses a power allowing him to realize his dream. Now he has to find a crew to go on an adventure!

The hero of the Monkey D. Luffy series is played by Iñaki Godoy (Who Killed Sara?). This colorful character, more gluttonous than greedy, has elastic powers, thanks to the devil fruit of Gum Gum. He takes the lead of the Straw Hat crew with the goal of seizing One Piece and becoming the new king of the pirates!

Three-sword swordsman Roronoa Zoro is played by Japanese-born actor Mackenyu. Son of action cinema legend Sonny Chiba, the latter has already appeared in a live-action adaptation of a famous manga: The Knights of the Zodiac, in the role of Seiya.

Navigator Nami is played by Emily Rudd. This young American actress, still little known to the general public, appeared in the Fear Street films on Netflix. Hostile to pirates whom she does not hesitate to rob, the latter will nevertheless end up joining the crew of the Straw Hat!

What to expect ?
One hundred and forty four million dollars. This is the budget that has been allocated to this live action adaptation of One Piece, or 18 million per episode. A significant figure, which even exceeds the first seasons of Game of Throne and The Last of Us, and which proves that the platform has put the means.
The universe imagined by the mangaka Eiichiro Oda brings together men and women endowed with powers after eating a magic fruit and anthropomorphic creatures. So many incongruous characters that are difficult to transpose to the screen. The objective will be to satisfy the fans of the first hour without betraying the basic material and to appeal to neophytes who know nothing about manga.
But One Piece is above all a great adventure where it is a question of dreams, conquest, treasure hunting, travel across the seas and above all friendship.
Will there be a sequel?
No season 2 announced by Netflix, but there is no doubt that the platform has high hopes for its series. It must be said that the writers have plenty to do since the manga has been around since 1997 and Eiichiro Oda has no plans to stop there. Because at present, we still do not know what One Piece is, this famous treasure that all pirates hope to find one day.
If success is there, the adventure could only begin for Inaki Godoy (Luffy) and his companions.
