One Piece season 2 on Netflix: release, casting, synopsis… what we know about the rest of the live action series

Discover in this article, which will be regularly updated, the latest information on season 2 of One Piece on Netflix.

When and where will One Piece season 2 be released?

Season 2 of One Piece was announced by Netflix on September 14, just two weeks after the launch of the series. The producers revealed that the scripts are already ready and that they are waiting for the end of the actors’ and writers’ strike in Hollywood to begin production. It will then take 12 to 18 months of work to film and assemble it. Luffy and his crew will logically not be back on our screens before 2025, unfortunately.

What will One Piece season 2 be about?

The One Piece writers already have a 6-season plan to cover half of One Piece (which contains more than 100 volumes and is still being published). If we follow the plot of the manga, our adventurers will quickly take the road to the Grand Line, where Gol D. Roger’s treasure is hidden. But before that, they will have to make a detour to Loguetown, the town where the pirate king was executed several years ago. This is where they will cross paths with the mysterious character who we see from behind in the post-credits scene.

The writers were originally going to include this storyline in season 1, but didn’t have the budget to make 10 episodes.

Who will we see in One Piece season 2?

All members of the Straw Hat Crew will be returning, namely Inaki Godoy (Luffy), Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji). The appearance of certain secondary characters will depend on the screenwriters’ choice to intersperse the chapters of the manga, to go faster.

For example, we do not see Shanks (Peter Gadiot) and Buggy the Clown (Jeff Ward) again, in season 2 of the anime, which the Netflix series will adapt. Just like Kobby (Morgan Davies) and Garp (Vincent Regan). But these characters attracted enough sympathy from subscribers for them to make a return in season 2 of One Piece.

What do we know about One Piece season 2?

Well, not much at the moment. But we have a first clue, given by the creator of the manga himself, Eiichiro Oda. In the video below, the mangaka teased the arrival of a character in season 2 of One Piece. Fans know that this is Tony-Tony Chopper, who will become the official doctor of the Straw Hat crew. This blue-nosed reindeer who has a Devil Fruit will be a real challenge for the Netflix teams, since it will be entirely made by computer.

In season 2 of One Piece, Luffy, Zoro and the others will normally go to Alabasta, a desert country in the grip of civil war. This is where they will fight Baroque Works, the criminal organization mentioned at the start of season 1, and meet one of the first Grand Corsairs of their adventure. A beautiful spectacle in perspective.

Will there be a One Piece season 3?

Netflix has not announced a season 3 for One Piece, but as we explain to you in this article, the producers have enough to make 12 seasons. A significant figure and a goal that is difficult to achieve. The only obstacle that stands before them is the price of production. This is an extremely expensive series (much more than Game of Thrones for example).

If the audiences do not follow with season 2, which will arrive in a very long time, the adventure could end quite quickly for Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp and Sanji.
