Why fans of the manga “One Piece” will want to watch the Netflix live-action series in Japanese dubbed version?
There are usually fans of the VF and regulars of the original version, but the One Piece series could usher in a whole new trend. The live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s manga hits Netflix on August 31, and a featurette was revealed this weekend at Anime Expo in Los Angeles.
After the disclosure of a first trailer a few weeks ago during Tudum, the platform announced in this new video that the Japanese performers of the animated series One Piece would resume their respective roles for the Japanese dubbing of the version taken real views.
In the Japanese version, which will therefore not be the original version since the series was shot in English, Luffy will therefore have his real voice in the Netflix series, as fans of the anime who are followers of the VO have known him for almost a quarter century !
This featurette gave rise to a historic meeting between Iñaki Godoy, who lends his features to Monkey D. Luffy in the Netflix series, and Mayumi Tanaka, the character’s seiyū for 23 years! A passing of the torch, or rather straw hat, was also made on the occasion of this promotional video (see below).
Note that this isn’t the first time Netflix has given anime fans a heads-up, as the original Cowboy Bebop voice actors also reprized their roles in the live-action dubbed version. Japanese.
A series which, however, left only bad memories for fans, but also for the platform which canceled the program in its first season!
